FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the €4,500 a fee?

No. It is capital that stays in your own business. It must remain invested for as long as you hold the permit.

Do I need a visa to travel to the Netherlands?

No. Japanese citizens do not need an MVV entry visa for this route.

Can I work for a Dutch employer?

No. The permit is for work in your own business. For a job, the highly skilled migrant permit is the usual route.

Can my family work?

Yes. Your partner and children receive a permit for the same period and may work without a work permit.

What happens after 2 years?

If the business is active and the investment is still in place, the permit can be extended by 5 years.

Our Japanese company wants to send staff. Which route?

Either the intra-corporate transfer (ICT) or the highly skilled migrant permit. We advise on the best fit.
